On the generic parallelisation of iterative solvers for the finite element method
The numerical solution of partial differential equations frequently requires solving large and sparse linear systems. When using the Finite Element Method these systems exhibit a natural block structure that is exploited for efficiency in the “Iterative Solver Template Library” (ISTL). Based on existing sequential preconditioned iterative solvers we present an abstract parallelisation approach ...
متن کاملNew approach for attenuation correction in SPECT images, using linear optimization
Background: Photon attenuation as an inevitable physical phenomenon influences on the diagnostic information of SPECT images and results to errors in accuracy of quantitative measurements. This can be corrected via different physical or mathematical approaches. As the correction equation in mathematical approaches is nonlinear, in this study a new method of linearization called ‘Piece ...
متن کاملConvergence of iterative Solvers for non-Linear Step-and-Flash imprint lithography Simulations
The paper presents the analysis of the iterative solvers utilized to solve the non-linear problem of Step-and-Flash Imprint Lithography (SFIL) a modern patterning process. The simulations consists in solving molecular statics problem for the polymer network, with quadratic potentials. The model distinguishes the strong interparticle interactions between particles forming a polymer network, and ...
متن کاملTwo - Level Schwarz Method for Unilateralvariational Inequalitiesp
Numerical solution of variational inequalities of obstacle type associated with second-order elliptic operators is considered. Iterative methods based on the domain decomposition approach are here proposed for discrete obstacle problems arising from the continuous, piecewise linear nite element approximation of the diierential problem. A new variant of the Schwarz methodology, called the two-le...
متن کاملNon-stationary iterative solvers on a PC cluster
In this study, we introduce cost effective strategies and algorithms for parallelizing the Krylov subspace based non-stationary iterative solvers such as Bi-CGM and Bi-CGSTAB for distributed computing on a cluster of PCs using ANULIB message passing libraries. We investigate the effectiveness of the parallel solvers on the linear systems resulting in numerical solution of some 2D and 3D nonline...
